WE'RE HOME!! What does this mean??? No nurses taking care of
our child at night so we can write a big long update cuz now we have to do all
the work ourselves!! Just kidding, while it is a LOT of work being home it sure
is nice! Our miracle baby at 3 weeks old has left the hospital and is doing
FANTASTIC! We praise God for her, for the Kinderspital and everyone who has
supported us, prayed for us, baked for us, and and and and......we are so
blessed, and we are so thankful!
Mayla gained weight from yesterday and was 'released' this
morning around 11:30, the feeling walking out of the hospital with her by our
side was beyond any words I could type. The feelings we experienced walking
through our front door with her brought tears to my eyes. We had spent three
VERY long weeks in the hospital with her and dreamed about this day for so
long, and now, by God's grace it was here. Just short of two weeks ago Mayla
had open heart Surgery, and now we are home, the three of us and able to start
'real life'. When we were talking with our Doctor just before leaving, Will
asked him if there is an instruction manual for Mayla that we could take home
and I asked if we could still bring her back to the Nurses at night. While we
were only kidding, it is VERY strange being home without 'assistance' near by,
without all the other babies crying, without machines beeping, and without
anything monitoring our girl to tell us if she has enough oxygen or a steady
heartbeat. It's not only an adjustment for us, but for Mayla too. We have
noticed when she is awake she looks around in confusion, this place obviously
looks MUCH different than the hospital. Her basinet is also way empty. Her
whole life she has been sleeping with 'things' around her, towels, blankets,
massive duvets, stuffed animals, hot wheels, etc. Now? Nothing. A vacant lot,
so to speak.
Lots to get used to. Where we go from here, only He knows.
But at least He knows... We wish we had something more, insightful, and lovely,
and inspiring, and encouraging to say, but we are tired. The emotions of the
last 3 weeks culminating with coming home has taken its toll on us and we are
completely and utterly exhausted. We will surely provide additional updates
when either of us has the brain power to put together a coherent thought other
than, "uh, there is a baby in our house..." With that, we bid you
adieu for the night. Thank you again!

Ciao Kinderspital, and thank you!!!

Amazing the amount of "stuff" you can collect in 3
weeks.

Ready to roll...

Yes he is, and don't you forget it!

Family photo number 2.

Okay, evidence that we really didn't make her ride in back.
We put Will in the back.
|
Welcome home Mayla Grace!
|
Sadly, we didn't take a picture of her at the hospital in
her take-home outfit. Of note, in one day, Mayla has spent more time in a skirt
than Keri has in her lifetime...
